HARRISON, NJ-- The New York Red Bulls opened their 2010 season in front of 24,572 non-stop cheering fans with a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Fire. Estonian midfielder Joel Lindpere scored the only goal just before the first-half break with a brilliant strike in the 40th minute.

Lindpere also scored the first goal in last week’s 3-1 victory over Santos FC during the Grand Opening at Red Bull Arena.

Former U.S. national team striker Brian McBride had the first opportunity for the Fire early in the game with a bicycle kick that hit the post.

The game at Red Bull Arena marked the debuts of both coaches: New York Red Bulls manager Hans Backe and former El Salvador coach Carlos de los Cobos for the Chicago Fire.
