Portugal Day Celebration in HarrisonPortugal Day, officially Dia de Camões, marks the date of Luís de Camões' death in June 10, 1580 and is Portugal's National Day.

Camões wrote the Os Lusíadas, Portugal's national epic poem celebrating Portuguese history and achievements. Although it is only officially celebrated in Portugal, Portuguese citizens and also Portuguese immigrants throughout the world celebrate this holiday.

Portugal Day Celebration in Harrison takes place today Saturday, June 5, between 12:00 and 11:00 p.m. on the corner of Harrison Avenue with Patterson St. The festival is sponsored by the Centro Romeu Cascaes. Food, music, drinks and more.

A flag raising ceremony will take place tomorrow at 10:00 outside Harrison's Town Hall.
