The Harrison police department is already at its lowest number of officers in almost 20 years The governing body of the Town of Harrison recently alluded to possible lay-offs in the police department and ordered the Chief of Police to reduce his budget by nearly one million dollars. The police department has been receiving state aid in the millions for several years now due to poor management of municipal finances. It is hard to imagine how the police department would be the target of any reduction given the importance of public safety. The Harrison police department is already at its lowest number of officers in almost 20 years. Union leaders have met with mayor McDonough and are willing to cooperate in any way they can during this budget crisis. Despite this deplorable situation, the Harrison Police Department would like to assure you that they will be out there every day doing the best job they can to ensure your safety.
