Green hotel coming to Harrison

In a press release, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. has announced the upcoming Element Harrison set to open the Summer of 2014. Element Harrison will be the second hotel in New Jersey Starwood's new environmentally friendly Element brand that offers travelers the chance to stay in an all green hotel. The hotel will comprise of 138 guest rooms and suites. It will sit right at the Harrison PATH station, situated perfectly by the Red Bulls Stadium and the new luxury apartments being built in downtown Harrison.

Amenities in Element Harrison will include all of the brand's signatures, including a state of the art fitness center, an indoor pool, a 1,500 meeting space and spa-inspired bathrooms, among others. The Element brand launched in 2008 with the Element Ewing Princeton in Ewing. It is the first major hotel brand that incorporates all the goals made by the U.S Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). It's refreshing to see that " green " projects, ( hotels and so on ) are being built in Harrison, NJ. I applaud projects like this...however, The buyers of the properties should delve deep into the history of the site and see the building materials of the era......then come quickly forward , the site remediations for lead,toluene,be nzene,asbestos and PCB's and many OTHER harmful contaminants are done improperly, as well as incompletely. The workers are waiting for a response from OSHA & EPA
